MISSION BEGINS

I do a lot of entertaining with clients. It was a little over a year ago when I had reached out to some clients to go out to a steak dinner. They suggested a Barry’s Bootcamp class instead. I had never been, but thought, “All right, I’ll give it a shot.” After one class, I was totally hooked. I did NOT know my body could be pushed to those limits and feel so accomplished. Every time I have a BBC class, I wake up truly excited to go get my butt kicked and see how much further I can push myself. Can my sprints be .2 faster? Can I up my “jogging speed” by .5 today? It’s a constant competition with myself to see my improvements.

NUTRITIONAL INFO

I have been on Weight Watchers for over a year now as well and it has taught me portion control, which I was HORRIBLE at beforehand. Although, on WW I would still eat foods that were processed. After starting Barry’s and really getting into fitness and health, I started reading food blogs and health sites and since then, I have began eating clean (as much as I can.. who can turn down frozen yogurt every once in a while??). So my diet changed dramatically since starting Barry’s.

MISSION OUTCOME

It’s changed everything! It took me about three months to drop the weight, but it’s not the weight loss itself that has changed my life, more so the change in my confidence. I walk taller, stand straighter & have this air about me that I never thought I’d have. I truly have learned to love myself and my body. All of my friends and family have been so supportive – it’s super heartwarming to know I have an army of people behind me who are rooting for me. Barry’s has made health and fitness my #1 passion in life, whereas before, it was probably chocolate ☺. I see and feel my body getting stronger every week and there’s no better feeling than feeling FIT. I think the best part about Barry’s, aside from the change in my body and mind, is my ability to inspire my friends and family to amp up their workouts.

ADVICE FROM THE TRENCHES

Take it one day at a time. Barry’s was an eye opener for me and the challenge was one that I embraced. Go at your own pace and keep track of your improvements week over week. There will be bad days and bad weeks, but you need to remain positive and remember why you started. The road to success is certainly not a straight arrow upwards, it’s a squiggly line all over the map. My biggest piece of advice would be: DO IT WITH A FRIEND. If you could get a friend on board to start this journey with you, it will seem less stressful, more fun and you’ll be held accountable.

ONGOING MISSION

I still have a few more pounds I’d like to knock off, but that’s less of a concern for me now. I’m at a great weight and just want to make sure I keep challenging and shocking my muscles with new workouts. I would eventually like to eat 100% clean and I’m definitely on the road there too. Also, I would LOVE to get up to 20 lb heavy weights at Barry’s. Right now I fluctuate between 12’s and 15’s depending on the day. I just want to keep seeing progress and keep seeing myself getting stronger.

The only other thing I would say about Barry’s and why I love it so much is the fact that you can take the workout out of the studio and into your own workout at the gym if you’re traveling. It’s easy to replicate by coming up with your own HIIT runs on the treadmill and making your floor work more intense. I used to go on the elliptical lightly for 30 minutes then do some arms with 5 lb weights for 10 minutes and that would be it. Now, I’m doing my own BBC runs for 30 minutes and working like crazy on the floor to get those results I want. Barry’s Bootcamp is my heart!
