If you’ve been sticking to all black Lycra day in and day out for your Barry’s sessions, it is time to rethink your look. Plenty of fall fashion trends that were spotted on the runway have been translated into workout wear. Shake up your gym outfits with these looks:
Plaid is all over coats and sweaters for the fall season, as seen at Altuzarra. To sport this trend while working out, try Athleta’s Miles Compression tight with subtle plaid details. They are neutral but still eye-catching. For the guys, you can’t go wrong with Lululemon’s Surge Short in blue plaid.
Leopard print is always a good idea; Gucci proved this in their fall 2014 show. Show off your sassy side in class with The Upside’s Leopard Print Leggings. On top, this Vie Active bra with zipper detail is sexy, but still provides the support you will need while sprinting on the treadmill or doing burpees on the floor.
Military pieces were spotted in multiple designer runway shows for the autumn season, but arguably most fantastically at Balmain. There are countless pieces to try this trend out at Barry’s. Splits 59 Devon Tank has an open back to keep you cool, and the fun brown and blue camouflage pattern will definitely stand out. For your walk to and from the studio, try Heroine Sport’s Windbreaker Hoodie.
If camo really isn’t your thing but you still want to rock the military trend, these Theory+ Via Leggings are for you. Guys, you will look even tougher than you already do while using the heaviest dumbbells if you wear TOMCAT’s Camo Pants. For all your gear, Filson’s Camo Duffle Backpack is cool for men and women alike.
Gray (fifty shades?) was seen in the Fall 2014 collections of designers such as Ralph Lauren and Jason Wu. Sub out your black basics with some gray alternatives. Try pairing Heroine’s Jogging Pants with Live The Process’ Jersey Sports Bra. For you crazy Barry’s fanatics going to the studio when it’s freezing at 5 AM, add Athleta’s Cashmere Pave sweater as an extra gray layer. Guys can wear the gray trend with Prana’s Mojo Quick Dry shorts.
These pieces will all let you work out in style. However, we gym rats may have more of an influence than we think. Caroline Gogolak, Co-Founder and Head Buyer at Carbon38 explained: “I think the trend is more the reverse: active wear trends are influencing runway trends. Sporty is in, and people are eager to show off their coolest leggings and have multiple styles and color ways to wear throughout the season. Basic black is over and people are ready for something different.”
