In theory, a killer workout should not require makeup — even the toughest personal critic should be satisfied by the glisten of sweat and flushed cheeks that result. Despite this, maybe you’re headed straight to the gym after a long day in the office. Or perhaps you’re looking to impress the guy who is on the same Barry’s schedule as you (which you swear is coincidence, not stalking!) Though wearing makeup to workout isn’t ideal for your skin, we’re not here to judge. If makeup is a must, just make sure you’re using products that will survive your sweat session without irritating your skin.
To begin, smooth on a matte base to even out your skin tone. Tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12-Hour foundation provides full, but not heavy, coverage. An additional bonus? SPF 15 — you know sunscreen is always a good idea. Do you have dark circles under your eyes evidencing your lack of sleep or overindulgence from partying the night before? Try this Lancome concealer, which is basically spackle for fatigued skin. If you want to add a bit of a sun kissed glow, this Hourglass Bronzer is designed to withstand humidity and moisture. Accentuate the flush you’ll get in class by adding cult-favorite Benefit Benetint to the apples of your cheeks. Dab this multitasker on your lips as well for a bit of color.
Eye makeup and sweat are generally not a good combination. Is there anything worse than looking in the mirror during a sprint (level 12?!) to find mascara dripping down your face? If you can’t imagine not lining your eyes, use this flake- and smudge-less CLIO Waterproof liner. Plus, the pen design allows for precision application. To keep your lashes looking long and lush, Blinc Mascara is truly revolutionary. It coats every single eyelash with tiny waterproof “tubes” and is designed to withstand sweat and tears. And not to worry, unlike most waterproof mascara, Blinc Mascara can easily be removed by rubbing some warm water on your lash line. If you’re going to rock makeup in class, make sure you are on trend with bold brows. They’re having a major moment, so fill yours in with a waterproof formula like Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade.
To set everything in place and absorb excess oil, mist your face with Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray. These products will all survive class even if your trainer doesn’t treat you to some fan time, and are sure to compliment your “just Barry’d” glow.
