The Midas Touch
by Mandy Gragg

We happily welcome Barry’s San Francisco superstar trainer and blogger Mandy Gragg to the Intel with her take on how to style her favorite items from our newest line.

The past several seasons in fashion have welcomed in a new era of style, from the runway all the way down to the studio floor. Athleisure continues to remain on trend due to the ease of wear and styling it provides; there is ample opportunity to blend utility and comfort with current fashion trends.

This season’s retail pieces at Barry’s have blended just that: bold color palettes, street utility details, and tech-specific fabrics. Metallics and mesh are having a major moment this season, and the current collection is full of studio options and street style pieces.

These crops by Splits59 are as gorgeous on the street as they are in the studio. The subdued metallic details and smaller logo make them a great studio to street piece. I have been a longtime fan of Splits59 given their excellent quality, and matched level of functionality in the studio. I have several pairs of our past Barry’s Splits59 pieces and they have held up perfectly through countless classes and workouts. Pair these with a long sheer layering top, scarf, and minimalistic jewelry for a street worthy transition after class.

This top is by far my favorite piece from this season’s retail. It’s truly one of the most transitional pieces I own, and one that I feel comfortable wearing outside of spandex. The gauzy effect is perfect for layering, and the material is beyond comfortable.

The split side paneling of this piece is sexy, as well as functional. I’ve worn it tied to the side while teaching, and have worn it layered over one of our longer and brighter tank tops from past seasons while out on the town between teaching and training.

Our current Barry’s exclusive line of bottoms and sports bras designed by Strut This may be some of the most comfortable fabrics I have ever worn in spandex. The material is durable, sweat wicking, and the fit is good for nearly every body type. Seeing these pants on several of our instructors and myself, with body types ranging from long and lean to athletic, I must say they are flattering across the board!

Pair these colorful and playful bottoms with a classic top, or a solid colored tank with mesh detailing for an added level of bold fashion.

Last but certainly not least on my list of favorites from this season’s collection is our leisure wear. I’ll admit I was first drawn to this top for it’s verbiage which bears similarity to my fashion blog, The Haute Sweat. However, after trying it on, it became a must-have because of its impeccable fit and versatility.

It’s a one size fits all piece, and it is truly universal across body types and modes of wear. It’s made cameos from my bed all the way to a night on the town, coupled with a fancy jacket and a statement necklace. If it isn’t in your wardrobe, it most certainly should be now.

I’ve paired them here with the Onzie Snakeskin Leggings post teaching class, as I usually teach in a sports bra or cropped men’s Barry’s tank, which isn’t exactly street material in our cool and foggy San Francisco weather, especially in the Marina District. This tank takes me everywhere; if I had to choose one piece from our current collection, this would be it.
